1.Krishi Vigyan Kendra is an institutional project of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to demonstrate technology generation, technology assessment and refinement and dissemination in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. The KVK has been charged now to take up the responsibilities of technology evaluation and impact assessment, demonstration of technology on the farmer’s field and update of the knowledge and skill for the farmers.

Services at Krishi Vigyan Kendra

1. Conducting “On Farm Testing” (OFTs) for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land used system.

2. Organize the training to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis, “In service Training.”

3. Organize short and long term vocational training course in agricultural and allied vocations for the farmers and rural youth’s with emphasis on “Learning by Doing” for higher production on farm and self-employment.

4. Organize Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on various crops to generate production data and feedback information.

5. To be a Knowledge and Resource Centre in district.

Major Activities of KVK

1.Characterization of the agricultural resources of the zone with respect to identification of technological requirements and training needs of the zone.

2. Preparation of technological packages for various crops for their meaningful utilization in training and follow up extension programme.

3. Planning and conducting need based production oriented short duration courses for farmers, farm women and rural youth.

4. Imparting vocational training to un-employed rural youths and school dropouts for the self-employment.

5. Organizing farm science clubs in adopted village.

6. Developing and maintaining instructional farm and demonstration units for training purpose.

7. Demonstration of tested and recommended technologies for location specific situation to find out the potentialities and profitability.

8. Conducting on farm testing of the technologies developed by NAU and ICAR Research Institute for the local situation and suitability, identification of constraints.

9. Collection and documentation of ITK of the zone.

10. Organizing pre-kharif and pre-rabi interfaces between the scientists and farmers to know the adoption of the technology, constraints in adoption of technology and communication of relevant technologies.

11. Publication of farm literature for dissemination of recommended technologies.
